Fly Fishing School

Since I began Fishing Breaks the opportunity to teach and help people into a pastime I love has been an abiding passion. Ten years ago I was lucky enough to buy Nether Wallop Mill, where in the 1960’s one of the very first fly fishing schools was opened.

That very same school runs today and the guiding principles that govern our Foundation Course endure from those early days. Yes, we are here to teach you how to cast, how to rig a rod, how pick the right fly and so on, but most of all we are here to teach you to enjoy the beauty of trout and the places you fish.

You will hear it said that ‘trout only live in beautiful places’ and you will find that Nether Wallop Mill, the River Test and all our many other beats truly live up to that promise.

About our School

Each day is tailored to suit the particular needs of the group or individual, but the emphasis is always on very well structured ‘hands-on’ learning, but in a relaxed and informal atmosphere.

The instruction will cover casting techniques, setting up your rod, learning those pesky knots, how to pick the right fly for the day and much, much more... including of course, how to catch that all important fish!

Included in the cost of every day is all the tackle and flies, your Environment Agency Fishing Licence, exclusive use of the School and facilities, Course notes for future reference, plus the chance to take home two fish and hopefully release many more.
