The Parsonage

The Parsonage has been a Fishing Breaks favourite for many years, standing as it does right at the heart of that ‘golden’ section of the River Test that is below Stockbridge & above Romsey, where the likes of Kimbridge, Bossington & Mottisfont Abbey lie.

The fishing is a great combination of main river & carrier, with nearly a mile of main river & close to a mile and a half of carrier. There is a splendid Fishing Cabin on the rivers edge, with all the facilities you are ever likely to need and comfortable chairs for an afternoon snooze after the rigours of lunch!

This is a predominately brown trout fishery; the only fish we stock are carefully selected from our Dorset supplier from Test brood stock. You may catch the occasional itinerant rainbow and in the latter part of the season salmon regularly roll in the deep pools. We haven’t caught a salmon on the fly for some years, though there are always a couple of dozen sea trout recorded.

This is the perfect place for a relaxing day on the river; The Parsonage stands in over 100 acres of woodland & water meadows where the sole activity is fishing & the occasional grazing cattle.

The season runs from May 1st – October 13th. The rates are as follows:
